General Vacancies / Casual Work

We do not have any regular vacancies at the bookshop at the present time, and are not currently looking for casual staff. Please do check back on this site and follow us on our instagram and twitter accounts in case the situation changes.

But…having said all that, if you are one of the rare wonderful people who were destined to sell and buy second hand books, have real lived experience of doing so, and think you can do add value to what we already do, you've probably got the presence of mind to have already got in touch with us…right?

Continuing tradition…and keeping London in books

There has been a book shop at 56 Charing Cross since the 1920s, if not earlier.

56 Charing Cross Road in the 1920s, when the shop was owned by the folklorist AH Mayhew. The entrance, lighting and staff attire have changed since then, but we still have our shelves of books outside the shop.
